> James Lewis, (Ph.D., '75), a Clinical Neuropsychologist, has been named Child Welfare Advocate of the Year for the Mid-Atlantic Region by the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA). Dana Wilson, the Director of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the CWLA, made the announcement on September 12, 2011. Dr. Lewis has devoted much of his 27-year career in clinical psychology and neuropsychology to evaluating and treating underserved families who suffer physical and sexual abuse, "mental injuries", and various forms of neglect. The CWLA Advocacy Award also recognizes Lewis' nearly three decades of service to private citizens and public agencies including local Departments of Social Services and Juvenile, District, and Circuit Courts in the Southern Maryland and Eastern Shore counties where Lewis has functioned as an expert examiner since 1976. Dr. Lewis has served as Vice Chair of the Citizens' Review Panel on Child Maltreatment in Prince George's County since 1999 and is working on public education initiatives on "Prevention of Supervision Neglect." Jim served CUA as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology for many years.
> James Youniss, (Ph.D. '62), was awarded an Alumni Achievement Award by the CUA Alumni Association for Research and Scholarship. Alumni Awards are a recognition of alumni who have distinguished themselves by their outstanding achievements in their fields, representing the university's strengths. Dr. Youniss is a distinguished CUA faculty member, fellow of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and a fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.
> Angela Santomero, (B.A. '90), was awarded the Young Alumni Merit Award, which is presented to someone who has made remarkable achievements early in his or her career, demonstrated leadership, and served the community. Santomero is a co-creator and executive producer of Nick Jr.'s Blues Clues, a successful integration of education and entertainment for preschoolers.
> Ben Rodriguez (Ph.D. '01) is Associate Professor and Department Chair at Southern Illinois University. He is also associate editor for The Journal of Clinical Psychology.
