Facilitiesflight simulator

Human Factors Lab Area

The facilities for human factors research in the CSL include the following:

 

-The Multi-Attribute Task (MAT) flight simulation software for the PC, with joystick

  control,

- A fully instrumented, general aviation flight simulator with cockpit and out-of-the-

  window displays, with yoke, throttle, and rudder pedal controls,

 

- Three air traffic control workstations, that include: (a) Primary radar displays and additional displays for flight progress strips and datalink communications, (b) ATCSim software for scenario generation and performance measurement, (c) Networking capability allowing IP communication with a remotely running pseudopilot, flight simulator(s), and other remote servers, (d) Telerobot simulation and analysis software for the PC,

 

- AUTO-CAMS, a simulation of an automated, space flight-related atmospheric control system, and analysis software

   for the PC,

 

- Sensor-to-Shooter, a simulation of a battlefield system, and analysis software for the PC,

 

- Viking, a multi-task environment simulating the tasks of an infantry soldier in the electronic battlefield,

 

- Eye movement recording system for analysis of saccades, visual scan paths, and pupillary diameter (Applied Science

  Laboratories), with scene camera and head tracking system (Flock of Birds, Inc.)

 

- Heart rate, repiration rate, and heart rate variability recording system and analysis software (CSL).
