Diane B. Arnkoff is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and former director of the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program. She earned her Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. Her teaching interests at CUA include psychopathology and abnormal psychology, psychotherapy, and psychotherapy supervision. Her research interests include psychotherapy process and outcome, psychotherapy integration, cognitive assessment and therapy, and evaluation anxiety.
Carol R. Glass is a Professor and director of the Undergraduate Program in the Department of Psychology. She earned her Ph.D. from Indiana University. Her teaching interests at CUA include cognitive and behavior therapy, psychology of gender, and psychotherapy supervision. Her research interests include cognitive-behavioral therapy and assessment, shyness and social anxiety, cognitive factors in anxiety, psychotherapy integration, and psychotherapy research.
Cynthia Alexander is a doctoral student in the clinical program. She received a B.S. degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University in 1982 and J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Vanderbilt in 1992. Cindy’s research interests include psychotherapy process and psychotherapy integration.
Lillian De Petrillo is a first year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at CUA. She received a B.A. in psychology and studio art from Boston College in 2003. Lili’s research interests include mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and the application of mindfulness training on athletic performance.
Kimberly DiGiorgio is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at CUA. She received a B.S. in psychology from the University of Maryland in 1997. Her research interests include intelligence/personality assessment, psychotherapy integration, and psychotherapy process. Kim is almost finished with her dissertation, entitled "Modification and Use of DBT with Various Clinical Populations: A Survey Study of Clinical Practice." She is currently conducting psychotherapy with combat war veterans at a local VAMC.
Victoria Franz is earning her doctorate in clinical psychology at CUA. She received a B.A. in psychology and art history from La Salle University in 2003, where she conducted a study involving the use of various artistic media in a projective drawing task. Her diverse research endeavors at CUA have included an investigation of therapists’ group attachment and clients’ perceptions of group treatment, and (with colleagues in the department and at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism) studies examining emotional learning and memory. In line with her long-time research interests of psychotherapy and integration, Vicki recently completed her masters thesis, “The other side of purity: Integration in manualized treatment for depression,” using data from the NIMH Treatment of Depression Collaborative Research Program.
Elisa Hernandez is a Master's student in the general psychology program at CUA. She received a B.A. in psychology from Stanford University in 2005. Elisa’s research interests include anxiety disorders and cross-cultural research in clinical psychology. Elisa is currently a research assistant at the National Institute of Mental Health.
Johanna Kaplan is a 2nd year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at CUA. She received a BA in both psychology and communications from American University. Her research interests include anxiety disorders, specifically diagnostic, course, and treatment issues in Panic Disorder. She currently holds a position as a pre-doctoral fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health. At NIMH, Johanna is working on a collaborative project with Dr. Carol Glass, Dr. Diane Arnkoff, and NIMH medical staff investigating maladaptive coping processes in persons with Panic diagnoses.
Keith Kaufman is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at CUA. He received a B.A. in Psychology and in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. Keith’s research interests include anxiety, mindfulness, and sport performance enhancement.
Holly LaSalle-Ricci is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at CUA. She received a B.A. in psychology from Georgetown University and completed a three-year predoctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health. Her research interests include anxiety disorders, hoarding, and inpatient psychotherapy. Holly recently defended her dissertation, which examined hoarding in a large sample of individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder. She is currently completing her internship at Springfield Hospital Center.
Vanessa Pangaud is a junior psychology major, and plans to pursue a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She is very much interested in mood disorders, particularly with regard to adolescents/ young adults. Vanessa is currently engaged in a Research Apprenticeship at CUA assisting with research and workshops in sports psychology, with a focus on athletic performance and the application of mindfulness techniques.
Michele Schottenbauer is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at CUA. She received a B.S. in physics and B.M. in composition from The Catholic University of America in 1998, and a M.A. in psychology from The Catholic University of America in 2001. Her research interests include psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychotherapy research, and neuropsychology. Michele defended her dissertation, "Expert Therapists and Practicing Clinicians: Reported Prototypical Treatments of Trauma," and is currently on internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She has first-authored 4 book chapters, as well as authoring 8 journal articles published or in press and 24 conference presentations.
Becky Walter is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at CUA. She received her B.S. degree in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 2000. She is currently on internship at Emory University Counseling Center in Atlanta, GA. Becky is planning to defend her dissertation, entitled "Self-focused Attention, Perfectionism, and Memory for Emotion in Social Anxiety," in the spring of 2006. Her other research interests include psychotherapy process and outcome, and her primary clinical interests include women's issues, eating disorders, identity formation/integration, and anxiety disorders.
